this is amazing, emma! I also have an urge to hold onto memories and moments, so I related to this post on a spiritual level. Can't wait to read more! <3
Shakespeare’s sonnets are some of my favorite works in the English language, and I really love your analysis of this one and how you connect it to the philosophy behind your Substack! I love how Shakespeare turns away from the idea of physical procreation in the first sonnets as a way to reach immortality and embraces artistic immortality instead.
I love this so much and it's made me fall in love (again) with literature, art, and writing. I'm so excited to read all your odes and love letters and share in the immortalization of all that you hold dear.
I found your substack via Elle sharing a striking paragraph from this piece. Reading this made me so giddy and I cannot wait for the sonnets to come! You perfectly captured that feeling of utter rapture when you fall so viscerally in love with something and the compulsion to express that profound love as true and as deeply as you feel it. It’s a rare feeling as I get older but this makes me feel like I’m ready to fall in love with life, with everything all over again!
This is literally my favorite sonnet! Alwaya glad to meet another poetry nerd. Love this. Subscribed!
